All fine, it looks shiny and smooth...BUT, where do I find you and how? And if I buy crossover and rFactor, will I be able to add plugins, or mods(what am I talking? mods???). I won't buy anything until I see one of you online and I can play with
When you've got the game running, click on "Connect" on the left, and then "Join".. The server running for us is entitled "L'il RLer Server". More than half the time, it isn't listed right at first, so click the refresh button. Helps to sort the list by server name... Oh, and you will have to install the mods that are running on the server to be able to join & play.
And - looking at the server window at the office, I'm seeing folks coming & going, mostly See Flat

I usually drop in once a day but am always alone for the exception of running into kopje once.
Kenners, any chance I'll run into you anytime soon?
Re: rFactor - how-to
I gotta get my priorities straight.. Family & work are just too high up right now.. Weekends, that's when I need to take the time. I'm shooting for middle evening hours (UTC) on Saturday - maybe 3ish east coast time. I gotta tell ya, setting up the cars is voodoo for me.. And ya know what I hate? One time into the wall, and I can't freaking drive my car anymore!See Flat wrote:Kenners wrote:

I like that cars break. It keeps yahoos reasonable.
I work on Saturdays. odds are we won't bump into eachother.

64 bit should be good, Pax. Works great on my end. Be sure to run available updates ASAP though, I get random shutdowns without them.Pax-raider wrote:BumpPax-raider wrote:Do I care which version of Win7 I get, 32-bit or 64-bit? lol - yes, mods. You will be able to install them, but I would back up your bottle first. There are plenty of mods and tracks to try at files.race2play.com20FingerS wrote:God will burn me...or the devil...but yesterday I managed to play with it! if you just want to get on line and see some of us quickly, (i'm actually the only one in there)
you just need megane cars and road atlanta track to get on Dandy and Kenner's server
http://files.race2play.com/rf/Megane.exe
http://files.Race2Play.com/rf/tracks/Road_Atlanta.exe
the server has been mentioned before. I always forget what it's called, (lil' RLer server or something close to that )
Re: rFactor - how-to
Looking for ideas for server content...
Meganes are fun for a bit, but tricky with their AWD. There are plenty of well-populated noob free-for-all servers for them.
SF seems to be having fun at R2P with the Skoda Octavia (similar to Vauxhall TCC). With 29 car fields - I can see why!
These cars are "friendly" - FWD, not a lot of setup options. I could set up the server with tracks from the rest of the season - sound like a plan? I'd love to see a race with lots of RLers taking the grid.
Other options are GT3, Aussie V8, LeMans series. Open to suggestions.

I agree that there are plenty other places for the megane thrill. Some very well behaved ones as well.
The skoda might be a bit tame for some but could be a good started to have fun with some of the old gang.
GT3 Might be a very cool choice. I dont know anything about the others.
P.S. I solved my problem of not much space remaining on my 35G windows partition. I copied all the rFactor stuff to an external USB 2 drive and erased everything on my windows partition. Freed 15gigs and now play Rfactor from the external. Works great.

Octavia and GT3 get my vote (if I have a vote )DANDY wrote:SF seems to be having fun at R2P with the Skoda Octavia ... sound like a plan?

Re: rFactor - how-to
I am having a bit of a graphics glitch with the Skoda.. In what I think is bumper cam, I have some vertical "fins" in front of me.. Distracting.. Anyone else?
If I'm not mistaken, the only time people can join the server when anyone else is on is during the initial practice session, right? Might be nice to set the practice to maybe an hour, give folks a chance to join.. You can always go to next session with a vote, right? Lemme know, I can alter that setting anytime.

No problems with skoda, just some fps lag in mid-ohio but is still playable.
As for practice, a longer session is ok for me but beware: you can only advance if there's at least 2 real players. So if you race only with AI you have to wait the session end.

Re: rFactor - how-to
Alphonse! Saw you on the server for a sec... You get the mods loaded? I also added Road Atlanta back on there, folks, at SF's request. If you had the previous mods still there, should be good to go.
Kenners
PS - I went onto the server & put Road Atlanta back on there too, so keep that mod, or download here:
http://files.Race2Play.com/rf/tracks/Road_Atlanta.exe
And I think I will set practice time to an hour; can always vote to jump to qualifying, and the extra time gives folks time to get on.. OK?
Great fun racing with See Flat, Dandy, and Alphonse today! Still 4th...

It was special indeed to see 3 fellow Redliners on the track. Dandy is still the man, and I'm pretty sure Kenners was faster, just had some misshap or such. Alphonse is also faster than me, even on the first day having never used that car or tracks!
Good so see you all on the track!

So much fun. I had two penalties for early starting. Holy crap, i thought 3-2-1-go.
hahahaha.
once my engine was on fire. me were looking like nikki lauda now most probably, as i did not realize it and tried all to keep on track.
once i had a failure after a crash with my front left suspension.
after all much fun in mp with you guys - thanks.
the skoda seems to be an easy drive, compared to others.
let us repeat that!!
just have to take care of the caterham cup in rl too

Well.. At Mid-Ohio, the AI cars do "talk", right? But seriously, for me it's late in the day (middle of the night over there) or weekends. Soon I'm going to start taking one afternoon a week off, maybe we can make it a regular meeting time.kopje wrote:guys... what time? I'm always alone at mid-ohio

Re: rFactor - how-to
Got rFactor up and running this evening in CrossOver Games. Unfortunately rFactor Lite was a no-go; the CrossTie installer couldn't download it from the server. Full fat rFactor is running nicely though, did some offline laps and it felt pretty good. Next to figure out how I plug-ins without breaking everything.
I'm assuming you guys paid to unlock rFactor.
