Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, 23 nov '08: 1.0
can someone get a picture of the gearbox central tunnel?
I don't care if its a CTS or a 2009 CTS-V. I have materials that allow me to work on, but I don't have a picture of that, so I don't know how it is.
thx american's guys =)
:lookatleo:
PS: preferibly get a top down view...

The Top Gear episode also provided us with a nice engine sound reference.
Here's NoNameBrand's Vette engine sound played at 90%:
488KB .WAV file
And here's James May doing some 11's inside the CTS-V:
1.2MB .WAV file
(both in-car and exhaust sound in that clip)
As you can hear from the above clips - a very similar sound. Isn't the engine also from one of the C6 Vettes? If you think NNB's engine sound is too harsh, I can remove some of the harmonic information around 1kHz for you.
Within the limits of how Redline does engine sounds, I think you're pretty safe with NoNameBrand's Vette engine with fullRPMSoundPitch at 0.9 and with zeroRPMSoundGain about 1/4 of fullRPMSoundGain.DonaemouS wrote:Unfortunately I still searching the engine sound

I have the highres pict of this image, but, as u can see, there is no top-down view of the gearbox central tunnel.
The problem with NNB excellent quality loop, is the turbo sound. The Cadillacs has an amazing turbo sound, way better then the original one included in the game. Is similar to the one we can heard in Mustang Shelby.C14ru5 wrote:The Top Gear episode also provided us with a nice engine sound reference.

The only way, to reproduce the Turbo Sound, is getting directly from inside the car and record within the engine sound. Yes, the NNB engine sound is almost perfect and, with your helps can be fit quite well for the CTS-V too (after his permission).
Any idea for reproduce the turbo?
Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, 23 nov '08: 1.0
Go for it, I certainly didn't make it, just some tweaking of it. Feel free to grab the Mustang's turbine sound. That'll be going on the ZR1 next update, too.
The LS9/LSA engines don't have a lot of turbine noise, really.
The problem with Redline and making turbine noises for blowers, is that Redline (rightly) throws on the turbo sound as the revs ramp up, whereas the supercharger is most audible at low speeds and RPMs (at least on factory GM vehicles - you hear it more when it's sticking out of the hood).

I extracted a portion of the XLR-V engine sound. In this loop you can heard the amazing turbo "music". Here is way more loud then the CTS-V.NoNameBrand wrote:The problem with Redline and making turbine noises for blowers, is that Redline (rightly) throws on the turbo sound as the revs ramp up, whereas the supercharger is most audible at low speeds and RPMs (at least on factory GM vehicles - you hear it more when it's sticking out of the hood).

"Uh? Where I can get that turbine sound?"
It's in here, somewhere.
"I extracted a portion of the XLR-V engine sound. In this loop you can heard the amazing turbo "music"."
The XLR-V has a different engine with a different supercharger than the new CTS-V. The former has the LC3 Northstar, which is a DOHC 32 valve V8 with a three lobe supercharger, the latter has the LSA, which is an OHV 16 valve V8 four lobe supercharger. Four lobe superchargers are noticeably quieter than the three lobe ones.
Your video is the only one I've seen that you can hear the supercharger - check out the ZR1 and CTS-V laps of the Nurburgring below:

Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, 23 nov '08: 1.0
yesterday night, I got a look at TG Season 12 episode 2. Unfortunately, there was no real news about this car. Was pretty an entertainment review (really fun as always).
But I will make the suspensions a bit stiffer.
About the blower.wav. This need work to fit inside the CTS-V (or next XLR-V update as you rightly wrote). And yes, I know the CTS-V is a new car in the V series, defined by somes as V2.
The first northstar GM engine is waaaay louder and its sound is much more a music, compared to the LS2 inside the CTS-V...
imho naturally...

ok, i dont remember if it is public, but interior is done, and texturizing is going well... How well? Look by your self...
Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, 23 nov '08: 1.0
thx! Last interior picture... I spent about 4 hours today just on interior textures.Superslow wrote:

GOOD NEWS!
After an entire night spent on playing. Here is the LS9 engine sound through a lap. NNB if you will need the fixed loop for Redline LS9 engines, just ask me. Now I have CTS-V engine sound...

Ok the 3 thousands dollars Recaro seats are done, as well as all exterior parts textures. Another seven hours, and counting. Now I'm starting the body texture. For anyone scared about this new car.
No don't fear, She is using half the textures count (about 10), and one third the weights. Should be really smooth on slower Mac too.
Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, 23 nov '08: 1.0
Ok, first, thx Tomte for helping on suspension tweaking. Now, well good guys. Since the M5, its like the sedan i developed for Redline, increased performance.
God, this CTS-V is a rocket, and who thought E63 is the best accelerating sedan Redline have ever see, this new monster will surprise you.
Turning is really fun, thx to lot of traction and sliding...
Now, the car is looking really good, but I made a great effort in textures (thx to Tomte's tips). I updated the performance library, so take a look to see how this new car is optimized.
now, go to first post to download the new rocket.

well, we cannot be sure about his impartiality (I suppose is an american journalist), but look:

aspect in game when using chase view
As I tried to explain Don, the view of the car just seems odd to me. I know your model is ok, but the first time I used the car I found the view of the model distracting. So to compare to two other cars that I'm used too, I've posted three pics. Compared to volvo and mini, the view of the caddy almost looks as if the camera is in a different position (a bit higher) and a wide lenz. (not sure I'm explaining it right)
Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, 23 nov '08: 1.0
I believe it's based on the position of the model - the built-in cars and most plug-in cars treat y=0 as the ground rather than the bottom of the model, whereas some cars have y=0 somewhere else (bottom of the car, middle of the car, etc). Because almost everything is relative to the model, this isn't really a problem, but I think camera height is absolute (except for the in-car cameras, which are at the height of the driver's model's head).

got it, we are investigating (tomte help).See Flat wrote:Compared to volvo and mini, the view of the caddy almost looks as if the camera is in a different position (a bit higher) and a wide lenz. (not sure I'm explaining it right)
