After a tons, and believe me, I can't count, you can't even know how much proud I am to present you the brand new 2007 Cadillac XLR and XLR-V.
It's quite long list what is changed, I think I will be faster if I write what isn't: the rubber texture. All is completely new, and completely different from the GT4 taste I gave to this community in time for the GT4 tournament. The 2 cars are different, under various aspects.
This is also the first cruiser car (as Valentin_K love to call) to be release based on the Tomte's physics. The same we are using for TCC, GT3 and GT4 tournaments.
So, the Cadillac XLR will not top speed @ 300 and more Kph. a Big thanks to Valentin_K to be the victim of my boring pictures and .car we shared during the development.

Excellent, less polygons and better UV maps = better performance and groovy skins = more fun for all of us.

Re: Cadillac XLR and XLR-V, pack 2.0, release: 10 jan '11
ok, as I wrote, I restarted to had my hands on modeling. After about 30 minutes of "lost in space" looking at the application, trying to remember how all was working, and how I was able to model cars and items. I completely deleted the 2009 Cadillac XLR model development. Too hard, too long, and without sense for a car dismissed by Cadillac, and not historically popular or loved.
Well, but the early project need a fix for the GT4 race. At least for the textures drawing. What I doing, is:
1) Open the 2004 XLR-V model (remember, the body of the 2006 restyling is the same). Adding symmetry object here and there.
2) Fixing the model size with REAL numbers (the first model was built around the blueprint, and then resized to the real lenght.
3) Adding the wheelbase proximity (this will help to have a car moving as much close as the real one.
4) Latest and hard step, melting meshes, polygons optimizations, fixings what is ugly and bad modeled, adding a serious UV map, retexturing...
Nothing more. With the help of Tomte, I will release the new street XLR pack (2006 pack) with all the latest news in fact of friction and rolling resistance.

I aim to release the body UV map during the end of the week.
Re: Cadillac XLR and XLR-V, pack 2.0, release: 10 jan '11
So as I understand, this is a new model. You are not talking about a new UV map for the old model, right?DonaemouS wrote:I aim to release the body UV map during the end of the week.
So you're saying that at the start of the tournament, we will have a completely new car?
Just take into account that the model placement is better the same than the old one, otherwise we will need to shift all XYZ coordinates in the .car file....

Re: Cadillac XLR and XLR-V, pack 2.0, release: 10 jan '11
the old model doesn't allow for a good UV map.
This is why I choose to have a completely new model, with all the efforts to make it available. I will give u the first model preview as soon as i have one.

That's great, what an effort. From what I can see from the screenshot, it already looks quite good!

I still need a couple of days, but I didn't sleep last 2 days. I was completely focused with the car modeling. And here the new Redline coming car:
Is a bit heavy as polygon counts, but i will try to reduce the number before the release.

The first part, is fixing preparing a good texture, and tweaking this one on the model.

DonaemouS is apologized for the high_quality_low_polygons interior for the next Cadillac XLR.
