Re: songs of your life...
There was a time in my life when this was a "song of my life".
Can't handle too much of it now....but it still brings back many memories....
I have graduated to this nowadays....
And please stop that auto-play donniepants!

Re: songs of your life...
This one's still ubiquitous up here, 20 years on... and the kids are dressing like it's '89 again...
Re: songs of your life...
I know I'm out of sync with most of the choices in this list, but I just came across this guy today, and he just blew me away. One of kind sound, had to share:
[flash][/flash]
These are his influences: Lots of field recordings and other music from the distant past...Dock Boggs, Uncle Dave Macon, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Sonny Terry...music from the recent past...The Ramones, Led Zeppelin, The Replacements, Violent Femmes, AC/DC, The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Big Star, The Pogues...music of my contemporaries, peers and friends...Shellac, Lightning Bolt, Neutral Milk Hotel, Will Oldham, Jawbone, Gillian Welch, Tom Waits, Bjork, Nina Nastasia, Bob Dylan, Angus Maclaurin, TV on the Radio, Gogol Bordello, Lucinda Williams, Beastie Boys, White Stripes, Calexico..

I wouldn't be able to tell all his influences apart just listening to the music, nor do I usually have any interest in Banjo, but this guy is good!Toad wrote:I know I'm out of sync with most of the choices in this list, but I just came across this guy today, and he just blew me away. Re: songs of your life...
That's too funny man.
I believe that is Jim galafinaKISS singing in the video.
He's a madman comedian. One of his stories has him asking his father why their last name is so hard for everyone to pronounce. The dad says it's ok because the name ends with kiss and you can trick girls into kissing you if you go through it one sylable at a time. Jim wishes it ended in fuck.

UMM house is supposed to be muddy and have obvious technical flaws, instead of being crisp and refined. Listen and learn:
...but of course, if you want to get to third base, Franky Knuckles and the other 80's godfathers of house is the way to go.

Re: songs of your life...
This label was supposed to release house and underground music masterpieces.
here an example:
The music Leo linked, remember me one of the UMM products, like this '90 success.
