Should be back soon.
My family and I were one of those caught by the northeast US ice storm last week. Along with over 1 million others the citizens of our state and two others were declared national emergency areas. It has been 8 days and we still have no electricity and no heat. While we have been fortunate enough to have relatives who live nearby there are others not as fortunate.
I should be back on Redline soon - with a new respect for electricity and all that goes with it. Anyone who doesn't know what storms I am talking about should Google "New England ice storm of 2008". It would not be too much to say that the destruction and it's scope were jaw-dropping. Some areas of trees looked like a crash site for a UFO with every single top fourth gone. Utility wires were laying in the streets, huge trees were split like matchsticks. Everywhere was devastation.
Say a prayer for all those still struggling to stay warm on these cold nights.
Thanks,
JWB

take good care, hope you find things in decent shape when you get back to it.JW Barto wrote:ice storm
'ice storm' doesnt sound bad, until one sees the destruction first hand.

Normal life returns - in pieces
We got our power back 2 nights ago... but lost cable after only a few hours. Now cable is back and it's Christmas tomorrow!
I should be on tonight if the cable and power stay active. We are having a freezing rain event today and tonight so I am freaking out!! Luckily it's supposed to be in the mid-40s tomorrow so I'm hopeful.
Here is a link to my MobileMe gallery and some photos from the storm.

Re: Should be back soon.
after 30 years, i still wondering why american people build wood houses... I mean, do they know humans invented reinforced concrete?
Why clear the land using woods for house that the first strong wind will blow away?
