Some of the difficulty through some corners is likely due to weaker front brakes. I'll move the balance forward, as I find I'm overdriving them into corners, and I probably have earlier braking points than most.
If it's still a pain over rougher roads, I'll take out the small amount of suspension stiffness I dialed back in.
While typing this, I put the changes into the car, and cranked up front negative loadsensitivity just for kicks. It may work like a cheat, it may not...
Here's tonight's drive (1.4MB)
Mmmm Brakes. Very nice now. Seems like I'm able to feather off them better on turn in. Maybe I'm just getting used to the car too.
For rougher roads like BF, this version is a pretty good compromise, still a little slippy but more controlable and able to use that to help get in position for transistions and turn ins. Suits me fine. Did 5 laps and took 2 secs off version 3 time.
Think I would rank this as Number 1 now.

Re: FartMallow 3000
did some more testing at silver tonight with a few unnamed bastages. im still feeling the side step on the long curves and she still needs more feel on the rear tail during exits imho. although, the overall feel is getting better yet i think that "lawn mower" of a sound is killing the effect a bit. regardless, im liking the transition so far, just have those few gripes left still ... keep it up dandy, kudos on the new skin too

I'm liking it D. My thoughts mirror what leo is saying regarding the rear. great work so far and love where this is going.

Finally got round to a few laps. Its good fun so far. After driving the Vette around for a while its a lot more stable but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Ahem. Saw some testing going on last night so I upped what I'd got done so far - including a taste test. Option A is basically unchanged from last time, Option B takes most of that pesky loadsensitivity out of the mix.

Re: FartMallow 3000
Sorry, but am somewhat confused about which edition we are all talking about now.
D, I just downed the version from your post from Sept 9 and and tested it on Black Forest only. If this is what Leo was referring to as version B, then I prefer the version that I downed in the last post I made in this thread, back on page 2. Is that version A?
The last one feels like it has no suspension, compared to the (my) version A. Is it lowering the car too? It's bottoming just after the start line slightly (acceptable) and steers very precisely, going exactly where you point it. But it feels very wooden at the same time. Like it's just too stiff everywhere. I think I'm losing time going into turns with it because it's moving around so much.
Don't take this wrongly, but it reminds me of a Thomm car now. It seems to recover too easily, which is kind of odd considering how tight it is. You would think it would just go away on you, but it doesn't, it just bites and down the road you go. Sorry, wish I could be more technically precise about what I'm describing, but I don't have the chops.
Bottom line though is, I was doing 2:23's with version A, now I'm back to 2:25's with B.
Will try a few laps at Silverstone with the B soon and report back when I get a chance.

Re: FartMallow 3000
Ok, somewhat similar story on Siverstone for me, 1:55.90 with the A, and 1:56.90 with the B.
On this track there is not much to choose between the two as a preference. The B is more fun to to dive into turns with, sliding in and making adjustments and such, but I still like the feel of the A for setting up entries and going through in a more A to B to C and then exit manner, if that makes any sense.
The B seems to remind me of the Sauber in turns also.

just so there is no confusion..... with the new download.. there are two choices of cars in car selection menu. The first one on top....
is considered A and the second one from the top is considered B. Dandy referred to version A as being somewhat of a cheat, settings wise.
It was also supposed to be easier to drive, although leo could not stay on the road with it, and b was actually harder for me and easier for leo.

EDIT: just downloaded it at work and as you say there is only one car here. I dont know if he made more changes or just removed the car that was no longer supposed to be there.... Dandy will surely chime in!
Re: FartMallow 3000
ok, back. Yep, upped a new version, "B" physics for the weekend, this time with an interior and new collision boxes, which might explain the bottoming out. The car has very little suspension travel and ground clearance, so I'll probably need to give it a couple more cm.
The difference between this and the "A" physics is a big decrease in negative loadsensitivity -- it sits now at 0 rear and -0.2 front, while the "A" was pushing -0.08 front and -0.035 rear. The result is a far less 'deadened' car that I think feels pretty good. Obviously I need to revisit something if it drives like a TommyGun®.
Here's what I'm trying to accomplish
-Snappy steering that still requires precise direction and speed control on entry.
-Somewhat unwieldly on sharp (read: hairpin) turns.
-Lots of grip from the tires, which will only slide out due to obvious mistakes or from trying.
-Exits which require throttle control - i.e. the car will follow a proper exit line when given the right amount of fuel or gas/brake leverage, full throttle CAN push the car off the road.
-It should feel 'wound up' vs the Z06R, being underpowered (with 'only' 440 hp) with a weight distribution disadvantage, 50/50 being the ideal.
In short, an advanced driver's car with the ability to win, driver provides the will. The above observations made mainly at the hairpin at Montreal, where I had a good vantage point to observe several off-track excursions. I'm satisfied I've accomplished the above with my physics, though I am open to suggestion. I'll experiment with some of the stiff suspension settings, though these were worked out from known race spring rates for a similarly weighted vehicle, and WILL make a race car tougher to drive.
Feel free to hack up the .car a report on your findings

Re: FartMallow 3000
spent some more time testing her out on lime rock and silver. the A is faster and smoother and easier to drive. yet, as you mentioned it does give the car a "dead" feel to it. as for B, it has that snappy steering you like and the ass has more result from throttle play. although i was posting slower times and having a harder time finding the correct line, the option B felt more real and more importantly ... more fun. i would tend to lean towards the B option of your balance, as it seems to be more realistic to the car.

Distracted by a shiny Jag, but also boning up on physics and The Process in order to get it just right. Just about done with that part. O, and somebody mentioned a BMW....
At this point I'm interested in dates. (No, not with you!) Dates like potential TCC Tourney window. Or when GA might start a DB9R conversion. This might be sound silly, but I think it would be fun to release at least a handful of GT3's the same day, or at least around the same time. I'm quite willing to finish this one and let it simmer (and even start a new entry, time permitting) if there is support for this idea. I'm looking at setting priorities, and approximate dates would help me with that.
Re: FartMallow 3000
I almost typed a time.... and slapped my hand. Gotta be careful with that stuff. No joking I really have to check my schedule, and make sure I have time to make all the final preparations in time. i dont want to announce and then screw up. Will get back to all ASAPDANDY wrote:At this point I'm interested in dates... ...like potential TCC Tourney window.

Re: FartMallow 3000
I have the files for the DBR9/DB9R from GA. Haven't looked at them, will do it up after I finish the Mustangs. I've been distracted by Pirates! this week.
I need to tweak the Z06.R a bit too.
I think a Big Release Day would be great too.
I think we could pretty easily have the following in ship-shape form:
Z06.R
FR500GT3
XKR GT3
997 GT3
DB9R
Viper GT3 (based on the in-game Viper, with a new .car file and new, simple skins featuring symmetric numbers: 88, 1, 818, XIX, etc)
Ford GT GT3 (same as above)
Cars we're missing: F430, Ascari, Morgan Aero, Gallardo, Exige (from previous years).

The Vipers I've seen racing (at least in British GT) are a very different shape to the built in one. Would be nice to see though. If you could invent me an extra couple of days in the week I might be persuaded...NoNameBrand wrote:

The British GT Vipers are the same GT3 cars as in the FIA series.

Perma-Link to the WIP
Free3d conversion mania has struck. I got sort of close with mine, which I tried to do off of a photo that I didn't quite get straight on (more like jacked up from the far side on a portable lift). I've modded the freebie stock GT3 RS model with some race car parts, the whole thing still needs a good cleanup.
Physics have changed, new feedback required please...
I mainly tested on KB (not my forte), seems challenging enough but I can still pull off 2:55 at Silverstone, whcih should translate to 2:52-2:53 typical laps on a wheel for me.
Gearing is from a Quaife unit, stock gears numbers are listed. Feel free to open the .car and switch the numbers to Stock Cup S (i.e. Porsche-supplied race gears), but remember to change final drive at the same time. The stock gears are better for those who have trouble with the pure race setup, which tends to rob low-end power.
Have fun!

Steering- Ferpecto, very precise, turns in like a dream, love it.
Brakes- no issues, easy to do to much on entry. A good test.
grip- a little slippy, but maybe it's supposed to be.
Watched replay of my 1:54 and car looked like the real car vids.
Lots of heal and toe in turns with a lot of sawing on the steering wheel.
Takes some effort to get it to do what you want, definitely on the right road. I like
it as is.
