Mercedes E63 Amg, 24 feb '11: 1.4
After the powerful BMW M5, Audi S6 (Avant), and the small S60 R, here the real monster. The Mercedes E63 AMG. This 6,3 litres is a warehouse for power. So, to fit this car in the same M5/S6 class, I worked on handling. Well, You'll need skills to handle this car through turns.
Just a note for RC3. I using the amazing Black Forest as test track. Both M5/S6/S60R and E63 cars can handle in about 2,35 seconds. HSL is not a good track to test car performance. Black Forest has all, from slow turns, to faster one, braking at full speed, chicanes, and more.
Mercedes E63 AMG 1.4
Changes:
1.4:
- Fixed CoG position, in the previous version was inverted
- Fixed front and rear track
- Added engineBaseFriction and engineRPMFriction
- New engine sound, maybe not all will like the new
- Improved handling with softer suspensions, and different swaybars
- Added shiftUpRPMFix
- Added wheels.friction to all the wheels
- reduced wheels.maxAngle
- Shortened wheels.maxSuspension
- Reduced wheels.stickyness while removing loadSensitivity
1.3:
- Fixed lift issues at high speeds
- Lowered the CoG to reduce body roll and load transfer
- Increased damperstrenght
- Reduced engine inertia
- Reduced wheels.friction
- Moved braking factor on front wheels
1.2:
- Fixed mass weight, including the 75Kg driver
- Fixed CoG and Inertia with real values, now E63 has an higher CoG
- Steering Lock to Lock and wheel radius aligned with real car
- Added SupsensionFriction, previously was SuspensionFriction
- Tweaked Suspensions and swaybars
- Fixed automatic gearbox to 7400rpm
- Fixed front and rear wheel track
- Changed wheels.friction with different values for front and rear wheels
- Increased the braking factor
- Reduced wheels.stickyness to 0.070
- Reduced rear wheels.loadSensitivity to -0.07
- Converted tga textures to png to improve fps on slower Mac
1.1:
- Added the Black "fade"
- Increased brakes power
- Reduced lifting at high speed. This will affect the cornering at over 210 kmph
- Increased grip
- Added a new shadow model, just 98 polygons
- Added side indicators
- New collision boxes
1.0:
- Added a separate interior
- Added steering wheel
- Detailed Body and exterior stuffs
- Lowered CoG again
- Completely redesigned suspensions

- Now the suspensions are stuffer
- Fixed wheelbase distance
Let's the burn begin!

yes, the E63 will receive an update too. I saw people find trouble to handle the car. Yes, it's true, perhaps i was too much egocentric, and I modeled the handle for this car too much on me. An E63 is a peace of engineer, and she should be a bit stable at higher speed. There will be changes in that way.
Also, will be introduced the black "no" color.
pls write your comments before the new update.

Black is a shade not a colour. Thinking of shades, can she have a shadow model? Even a thomm-style floor-pan would be ok.DonaemouS wrote:Also, will be introduced the black "no" color.
Maybe she is a bit wild at high speed but go easy with the improvements - I love that "on the edge" feeling.

I'm working on shadow too, yes. Don't fear, will not be a body shadow model, but a cubic shadow model.
I getting the 4 important parts of the car (hood, side, roof, back) inside 4 boxes. Then I will search points in the real model to hang the vertices of these boxes, avoiding to have the boxes going outside the car 3d model.
At this point, i will merge the 4 boxes and generate a shadow. I hope it will work. Will be the same method I'll use for S6, CTS-V, and XLR/V plugins.

Re: Mercedes E63 Amg, 24 feb '11: 1.4
nice shade of black indeed. i played around with her a bit before getting into MP and love almost everything about her but the rear end. seems unpredictable to me at times especially under heavy braking, perhaps thats my syle of cutting in that causes it ... i dunno. all in all, a good update to a fine beast as long as i can tame her ass
Re: Mercedes E63 Amg, 24 feb '11: 1.4
In first, thx goes to Tomte for his help in tweaking and calculations. This is a completely new Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

Re: Mercedes E63 Amg, 24 feb '11: 1.4
With the 1.2, while having a completely new car, I introduced an issue at high speed braking. While braking, there was too much load moving on front wheels. This results in an unstable braking behavior, with rear wheels getting too much lighter.
The 1.3 fix this issue. Sorry for inconvenience.

Re: Mercedes E63 Amg, 24 feb '11: 1.4
the Mercedes E63 will receive an update in the next few days. Some of the new features are wheel.friction, new inertia, tweaked suspensions and fixed the WRONG CoG (actually 48/52 vs 52/48, my fault...)

I had a quick go with 1.4, it feels better than the old version. You know all the time that you lug around 2 tonnes, but with a dab of power you overpower the rear wheels and the fun starts. So good job on that.
What I already discussed with the local master of car detail modelling, is that the wheels are still sticking out of the wheel arches. If you want to keep it like that , you should add some mud to the wing mirrors and the sides of the car...
Or you give me the model in Wings format and I will pull out those arches in 1 minute flat.

Am I the perfectionist or all of you? In first checked 3D wheel size, and was a bit wider of what Redline want (1x2x2m).
Despite was wider, it doesn't fit the wheel arches yet. I will enlarge the body model today and try to reexport all in the day. So, the next update is just an aesthetic fix.
Later!

Don't do it! He's just testing your perfectionism to the limit. I tell you, Don, the bastard just wants to break you!DonaemouS wrote:ok, ok, ok... uff...Tomte wrote:If you want to keep it like that

I always drive in the front wheel view; having the wheels stick out is absolutely awful!

I still think the Tomte's Mercedes 190 is one of the best looking model Redline has ever seen! The E63 share the front logo star Tomte gave to me!
This picture is a tribute to Redline's Mercedes'
