I want to see these Race-Series in 2009
Race Series in 2009
Time passes bye fast some times. and my spelling does not improve
The GT3 tournament is over, no RRL in sight and SF's RLTCC is "for sale".
I am planning on some long races (just wanted to post one but forgot the password - will look it up at home and post later), which is not bad but should not be all.
In discussions with Toad we decided we could go for a "Toad and Alphonse TCC Race series", in honor of SeeFlat.
First thoughts are around (possible tracks, car-performance-committee-idea, basic setup) and we are ready to set it up if you like.
As there are other Tournaments about to start (maybe sooner or later?) like the Rally-championship, RRL09, GT1, GT2, GT4 - whatever - its time to find some feedback so we know we dont interfere with anyone else's plans.
We could think to start RLTCC middle August and it will most probably last 8 weeks (planning till end-october).
Please let us know if this interferes your plans and share your feelings...

I always enjoy the tournaments, no matter what car and track. What is the "Mini Class"?

The mini class... i thought once that races in minis are really enormous fun all the time. i know that not all share this opinion though. Would be some suitable cars like VW Golf limited or Mercedes 190 and probably some others too. Any class in my opinion needs a lot of good tweaking - i learned my lessons from GT3...
For the fun reason above, a race series with minis was considered by me after the last tcc - a long time since...
alf
Edit: Add on:
A committee for any upcoming race class i am in with MUST be set together in order to have well balanced cars - thats nothing to discuss for me. I tend to leave out cars if they don't fit the class and bring some pressure to the developers /i smack you all/ . For me the Seat is probably a bit fast, but the Mazda needs either a major rework or is not allowed in tcc if i am asked...

Re: Race Series in 2009
Yeah, I tend to agree with dj, its the big-group racing that makes it fun. The specific car/track combo is not much of an issue with me.
Having said that, before we do GT3 again I think we should balance the cars better than before, and personally, I think the SEAT needs to be partially castrated to bring it back in line with the other TCC entrants.

Ouch. I crossed my legs when I read that. Somehow I imagine that as being much more painful than being fully castrated.Pax-raider wrote:the SEAT needs to be partially castrated
I don't really have a strong opinion but I think the TCC is a nice varied class and is almost ready to rock. Just a little snip for the Seat...

Re: Race Series in 2009
i didn't vote yet, but we (tomte, nnb, thesnail and me) working hardly and as fast as we can, to the GT4 tournament's cars array. Can't (and won't) release informations yet. I know tomte will add an announce soon or later.
So, I think we can (may) go with the GT4 tournament. I also studied with Tomte a new set of rules for an eventually RRL tournament. But I think will be good to postpone this tournament yet.

We did?DonaemouS wrote:I also studied with Tomte a new set of rules for an eventually RRL tournament.
Anyway, I have no problem at all reigning in the Seat. Last time I tried that I got some noticeable opposition from some of the drivers, telling me they would switch cars.
But maybe even more important, maybe I can convince thomm to make that beautiful 156 slower. In my opinion it would be a pity to leave it out, but in the current setup I don't think it should participate in a TCC race.
About that mini class. I like the idea of one-make-series, be it Mini, MX-5 or whatever. What I won't like doing is balancing road cars for racing. It's one thing to do this with GT3 or TCC, but another for pure road cars (if they are already realistic, about which we can always discuss). I mean, that's why we are developing race classes.

Re: Race Series in 2009
If the Alfa would fit a TCC class it would be allowed - same is true for all cars.
As for the Mini-Races: The plan was to use built-in Minis - and IF there were cars fitting it well - they would be allowed too - quite simple as usual...

nice to know you and Toad keep it all rl-racing alive! I also like the group racing so much, it really doesn't matter what kind of car.

I'd love to see Mini-Class...
...and truck-class too. Sad we dont have so many of them.

i myself would love to see a new gt4 class tourney ... yet some more tcc torture never hurts
Re: Race Series in 2009
Capturing votes right now i see
- TCC in front of
- Rally and
- MiniClass and
- GT4
Toad and myself would like to have - if we have it - the TCC v2 set up NOW.
We start racing in Mid-August and it lasts until Mid-October.
Could you Don please tell us whether this interferes with your plans or we go for it?
If we'd go for it we need to set up things now, as there will be a qualifiying (most probably) and for sure a sign-up-thing, furthermore we need absolutely to equalize cars, which takes a month at least in our opinion.
If a GT4 is held in this time we will step back.
Pease advise,
alf

GT4 is what we are waiting for, but it's not the unique tournament we can start... Maybe will be the ultimate, but just as it was the GT3. Let's start to discuss about rules.
Re: Race Series in 2009
The GT4 class ist still very much in development, for the moment I don't see that we can hold a tournament this summer.
I roughly arrived at a performance envelope I am kinda happy with. Once that is settled, there is still some modelling to do (removing seats, adding rollcage and such) and the textures need preparation as well. After the initial release we need multiplayer feedback to iron out the glitches. Then we can think of organizing a GT4 tournament.
I'd go for TCC, as this is the group which needs the least amount of work. Well, an all Mini tournament would require even less work I guess.

Re: Race Series in 2009
Time to bring this one up again.
TCC was held. Are there any plans out there for upcoming tournaments? GT4 - any schedule? Rumble cup around Xmas - if - as i heared.
Rally?
I am ready to host some RLRC races, currently trying to create a website for RLRC, as too many races were held and (my) memory is not capable of memorizing.
Another TimeTrial-thingy?
We (Toad, myself, others) were thinking of a Mini-Weekend. Please let us know if there are any plans so we dont interfere... thanks!

Re: Race Series in 2009
Not as far as I am aware. For the moment, I'm just working on that class as a whole. In any case, I don't have the logistics nor the knowledge to hold such a tournament, I would need a partner. But I must say that I prefer a role as 'technical adviser'.alphonse wrote:GT4 - any schedule?
I was however considering to get the RLRC back up into the public mind. Not that I know how...
I think it is time for a Rally tournament, maybe some of the players who started moaning about TCC, GT3+4 in the last couple of days are willed to start something like this.

I sure will if there's a tournament! I don't know about anyone else but I have a busy life and I don't want to spend my time each evening waiting in a lobby for some friendly simmers to appear. The best of both worlds would be some sort of site where you could announce a race in advance and interested people could be emailed or notified some other way. Perhaps there could be voting for preferred track and car combos and maybe even a ladder scoring system?
Kinda like the RLRC website that was suggested! (Disclaimer: I have no idea how to do it, but it would be good. )

Working on a website for RLRC - hoping to find a good way to have different calculations on a ranking...
more to come soon,
