Design-Challenged Cars
Travelling from Montreal to NYC I noticed a lot of cars, which where challanged or challenging in their design. Here a shortlist, feel free to add some of your own.
Pontiac Sunfire Coupe: the rear 'wing' looks just wrong
Next up: 3rd gen Ford Taurus. Everything is ellipsoid. The front, the side... and it's worse if you actually stand in front of of it:
Next, the Satrun SL. Somehow I always have the impression that it has Down Syndrome.
And now the real deal: even on the promotional shots this thing looks crap from whichever angle you look at it. The SsangYong Rodius. It looks like the designer couldn't decide if he wants to create a SUV, minivan, Mercedes ML or a coupe:
But also in Europe you can have ugly:
Peugeot 308 SW. It just looks overweight. And what's with these wheel arches?
Then again, I still can't decide if I like the styling of my car or not:
Skoda Roomster

Re: Design-Challenged Cars
Oh, I forgot about the Aztek. The front and the rear compete about who is ugliest. Was it designed by a commitee or what?
The new Laguna has way too long overhangs, like the 407 from Peugeot. Somebody should tell them that these cars are NOT stylish...

stretched headlights
Personally, I really dislike the backwards-upwards stretched front headlights effect that the large majority of todays cars (like Peugeot/BMW) have. Such cars look like old ladies that have gone through a ridiculous facelift or two.
Yes, I know it's supposed to make the car look like it's moving when it's standing still. I'm sure that the effect also works for my judgement on a car, and that some of my favorite cars probably have that design. I'm also aware that the trend is not new. It's just that it's become a cliché stretched too far (pun intended) to the point of pastiche.

Re: Design-Challenged Cars
The Volvo C30. It's almost not too bad, until you look at that hatch "thing".
Wait a minute... How come the forum won't let me host an image?

New BMW TCC car in the Works
Mmmmmm, leather on the outside, steam on the inside.
Reminds me of an old BMW joke: What's the difference between a porcupine and BMW?
Porcupine; the pricks are on the outside.

Uh... It's not a Corvette. It's a Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris. MSRP: $287,500. Comes with a 500 HP W-12 engine that scoots the vehicle to 60 MPH in 5.0 seconds. Top speed is 185 mph.

Re: Design-Challenged Cars
Hot-linker beware! You might get burned by a placeholder image. In this case it was a polite message but often the message will be something a little more barbed.Superslow wrote:I'm afraid I don't understand your reply. Mind clarifying?

I wasn't aware that I linked to anything. Didn't do anything different from any of the other pictures I've put up. How did this happen??
