What's up with these Airship Dudes?
Sorry that this does not have any car related stuff in it, but this shot has me stumped. I subscribe to this vintage photo site that publishes stuff like this occasionally. There's not Title or info on the picture. Not sure if they are real Airship crews, or just WW1 soldiers, or in a set in some bar. Can't read the German, and mostly I can't figure out what's going on with the two guys on the bottom, what's with their legs for instance?

Here's a car angle for you - I discovered this in the Brooklands photo archive:

As far as I can tell from my (very rusty, very loose) grasp of German, there's nothing that amusing about the signs.

Re: What's up with these Airship Dudes?
This is a strange photo. I googled for "flucht vom truppenübungsplatz darmstadt" and found this strange website.
There you can see a similar picture on a postcard. Interesting: Only one soldier below is left. Maybe the other one was falling down already.
The texts are also strange: "Escape from training area Darmstadt", "Let's go home to mother", "Reserves run to homeland" (I bet my translations are terrible)
It looks like what soldiers would like to do: Escape from military service home to their family.
PS: I failed to decode the text on the backside of the postcard. Seems to be fonttype "Sütterlin".
